Operations and Maintenance

INTRODUCTION
USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Operations and Maintenance encompasses a broad spectrum of activities and services required to assure the grounds and buildings perform their intended function. This department also oversees outsourced vendor contracts and specialty contractors. USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Operations and Maintenance strives to provide functional facilities that:

  • Meet or exceed the university’s facilities requirements and support the university’s mission.
  • Provide an environmentally acceptable atmosphere for students, faculty, and staff
  • Ensure the health and safety of all occupants

USF Sarasota-Manatee campus performs maintenance on an ongoing basis utilizing both in-house and contracted entities. This department identifies, coordinates and schedules planned maintenance employing preventive, predictive, routine and deferred maintenance strategies. Additionally, this department responds to unplanned maintenance issues which include emergency and corrective maintenance. Facilities Planning and Management uses a computerized maintenance management software to manage preventive and corrective work orders as well as scheduled inspections.

BUILDING ACCESS CONTROL
The normal business hours for the Sarasota-Manatee campus are as follows:

  • Monday through Friday: 7:00 am – 10:00 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Sunday: closed

After-hours access is via an electronic access card, and access cards are provided upon request for active Faculty and Staff members. Requests for electronic access cards are made by contacting Campus Safety & Security. Card readers are located at each primary facility entrance.

CUSTODIAL SERVICES
Custodial services are provided through outsourced vendor contracts, and USF Sarasota-Manatee campus currently maintains a single contract for building maintenance and custodial services. The outsourced vendors are selected for a multi-year contracts based upon qualifications, experience, the ability to provide services, appropriate staffing levels, and overall value to the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. Facilities Planning and Management’s Operations Division staff oversee the performance of the outsourced vendors and are responsible to ensure the quality of services and compliance with the vendor contracts. The management teams of Facilities Planning and Management and the outsourced vendors convene on a quarterly basis to assess performance and correct any noted deficiencies. 

Grounds and Landscaping
Grounds and landscaping services are provided through an outsourced vendor contract. The outsourced vendors are selected for multi-year contracts based upon qualifications, experience, and the ability to provide services, appropriate staffing levels, and overall value to USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. Facilities Planning and Management’s Operations Division staff oversee the performance of the outsourced vendors and are responsible to ensure the quality of services and compliance with the vendor contracts.
