Emergency Management Accreditation
The University of South Florida remains committed to demonstrating the highest levels of Emergency Management standards.
In April 2021, the USF completed the On-Site Assessment from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). This allows the University’s application for all three campuses: Sarasota-Manatee, St. Petersburg & Tampa to be reviewed by the EMAP Program Review Committee. The final review and commission award of accreditation is expected in the summer 2021
The accreditation recognition ensures that an emergency management organization is in compliance with the most contemporary management and operational practices. In order to attain this recognition, the organization must comply with over 66 accreditation standards on topics such as Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Consequence Analysis, Hazard Mitigation, Prevention, Operational Planning and Procedures and Incident Management. An assessment is conducted by EMAP at 5-year interval to ensure that member agencies remain in compliance with these rigid professional standards.
The USF Department of Emergency Management is particularly proud of the EMAP accreditation certification, which solidifies the organizational commitment to the mission of providing professional emergency management services to our university community.
