PAInT Center Partners
The Florida Center for PAInT works in partnership with arts and educational organizations to promote collaborative arts-integrated teaching and learning in classrooms. PAInT partners are committed to actively implementing arts-integrated programming across the curriculum.
Partnerships with community arts organizations, area school districts, arts-focused charter schools, and teaching artists provide professional development for faculty and students, as well as opportunities for research and service.
The Florida Center for PAInT is part of the Collaborative Strategic Planning for the Arts in Florida. This is a state-wide collaboration in concert with the Florida Department of Education.
The Circus Arts Conservatory
Circus Arts Conservatory (CAC) provides a one-of-a-kind Education program that takes learning in the classroom to a new level. CAC teaching artists go into Sarasota and Manatee County schools to engage students in key academic subjects including Science, Language Arts and Theater.
These inquiry-based lessons were developed to the Florida Standards with FSA impact and awareness results. Designed to include students who have difficulty responding to other traditional forms of instruction, the education program introduces students of all learning levels and learning styles to this unique curriculum.
Measurements to date demonstrate consistent benefits to retention rates and test outcomes. CAC follows the Kennedy Center Arts Integration protocol because it is known that “when students learn through Arts Integration, they are engaged in experiences in which they actively build and demonstrate their understanding of both the art form and the other curriculum areas”.
South Florida Museum
South Florida Museum offers unique educational experiences for learners of all ages. Founded in 1946 by community leaders, the South Florida Museum opened in 1947 on Bradenton’s Memorial Pier with the Montague Tallant collection of Florida’s First Peoples pre- and immediate post-contact archaeological material as well as collections relating to the scientific and cultural history of southwest Florida and Manatee County. The Museum emerged as a leading cultural organization in the community, providing educational programs and field trips to tens of thousands of students through the years.

The EOD education initiative represents the most important aspect of our efforts – reaching and impacting the lives of our children. Since 2004, more than 235,000 students have participated including 37,877 students in 2016 alone.
In addition to free field trips, a variety of resources are provided which include workshops presented by nationally-recognized educators and professionally developed lesson plans relating to art appreciation, character building and diversity education. All lesson plans are created under the supervision of Sarasota County School District’s curriculum development team and fully incorporate the NGSSS and Florida’s Math and Language Arts Standards.
As a result of these efforts, students not only have a great field trip, but also a well-planned curriculum that is presented before, during and after their visit to the exhibit. Teachers who participate in EOD education programs overwhelmingly rate them as meaningful and relevant educational experiences for their students. Specifically, of 290 teachers surveyed in 2016, 91% expressed that the experience was either “outstanding” or “very good.”

The Sarasota Ballet’s Education and Outreach Program is designed to provide meaningful opportunities for our community to experience and learn about ballet; cultivating and educating a new generation of lifelong arts advocates.
Our collaborations with the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child Initiative and the Sarasota County Public Schools served over 2,000 local students in 2014 with an invitation to the world premiere of The Secret Garden and innovative curriculum support for classroom use. In 2013 the Outreach Program was awarded the Sarasota County Public Schools Professional Collaboration Award for our in-school and in-theatre programming associated with John Ringling’s Circus Nutcracker.
The Sarasota Ballet firmly believes that dance should be accessible to all residents of our wonderful city. Our Community Outreach programming reaches thousands of people with opportunities to experience and explore ballet. We proudly partner with local and corporate businesses and non-profits for a wide range of events, bringing our unique cultural art form to our community.
Sarasota Opera’s mission includes the mandate “to entertain, enrich, and educate our communities, as well as patrons from across the state and around the world.” We take this commitment very seriously. Through a multitude of education and outreach programs, we provide opportunities for all members of our community to share our passion for opera.
Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall
The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall provides arts based and arts integrated learning opportunities for students throughout the Gulf Coast Region. Our Schooltime Performance Series features children’s theatre productions from nationally recognized touring companies.
Each performance connects to core subject areas, such as Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math. Additionally, each performance features an in depth learning module series for each show, which features a professional development and 3 lesson curriculum guide. Teacher may also customize a workshop experience around any of our Schooltime or Mainstage shows through Language and Learning Through the Arts.
The Venice Symphony is passionate about inspiring a lifelong appreciation of music. Our Board, staff, dedicated musicians and Friends believe that music enriches the human experience. We are pleased to provide a variety of music education programs for youth and adults throughout our community.

Duval County Public Schools
Arts integration has been chosen as the focus for Hyde Grove, Hyde Park, John Love, and Smart Hope Livingston elementary schools to shift the school culture, improve teaching and learning, and ensure the success of every student who attends these schools. Through the “Arts Integration Revolutionizing Education” (AIRE) initiative Duval County proposes to reflect dramatic improvements in the professional practices of 190 educators and learning outcomes of over 1,500 students.
This initiative includes the sharing and digital archiving of best practices in arts integration with teachers across the district to pave the way for implementation throughout Duval County Public Schools. By partnering with Cathedral Arts Project, Any Given Child Jacksonville, the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, the Kennedy Center, the University of North Florida, the Florida Center for PAInT at University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, Jacksonville University, and WJCT, the following objectives will be met:
- Classroom and arts teachers at Hyde Grove (80.8% f/r), Hyde Park (77.2% f/r), John Love (86.8% f/r), and Smart Pope Livingston (83.1% f/r) elementary schools will consistently use a multidisciplinary approach in planning lessons and integrating the arts in their classrooms to improve student engagement and achievement.
- A large percentage of teachers included in the study will participate in arts integration workshops, courses and conferences each year that include at least 40 hours of professional development and at least 75 percent of the total number of professional development hours.
- Students will demonstrate learning gains in English Language Arts (ELA) as evidenced by performance on i-Ready diagnostic measures for K-6 students.
- Teachers will effectively use technology as a tool for arts integration instruction and self-reflection that will lead to improvements in arts integration lesson design and instruction.
- Teacher isolation will be reduced as classroom, visual art, and music teachers collaborate with teaching artists during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade level meetings, professional development workshops, and other communications.
- Classroom and arts teachers will increase their knowledge of arts integration to support rigorous arts integration instruction as measured by their collaborative and individual development and implementation of arts integrated units of instruction, videotaped and archived for shared use.
- Teacher satisfaction with their own efficacy in the classroom because of arts integrated professional development experiences and related ongoing support will increase as measured by the Insight teacher survey as well as outside observations.
