USF Sarasota-Manatee extends deadline for students to apply for housing scholarships

The deadline to apply for housing scholarships has been extended for new and returning students who want to live in USF Sarasota-Manatee's new residence hall when it opens this fall.

The scholarships, which will be for up to $4,000 over two semesters in 2024-25, are made possible by the generosity of community donors.

HospitaBull benefit for USF’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management set for March 26 at Michael’s On East in Sarasota

Guests will enjoy delightful hors d'oeuvres — including spicy tuna wonton cannolis, truffled deviled egg with tobiko black caviar and eggplant caponata on a plantain chip. The first course features a ruby and golden beet carpaccio salad and, for their entree, guests have a choice of spiced chateau of beef tenderloin, oven roasted chicken or vegan tikki masala. For those who manage to save room for dessert, a decadent chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and fresh berries awaits.

USF Office of Veteran Success supports military connected students with $10,000 in scholarships

Criminology associate professor selected as associate editor of international journal

USF Sarasota-Manatee criminology Associate Professor Fawn Ngo has accepted an invitation to serve as the associate editor of Victims & Offenders: An International Journal of Evidence-based Research, Policy, and Practice.

With eight faculty and administrators selected for the highly competitive Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program during the 2023-24 academic year, USF tied for No. 6 nationally. This is the eighth time in the past nine years USF has earned the prestigious top-producer designation.

Save your appetite for HospitaBull — The 12th annual HospitaBull will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at the celebrated Michael's on East — one of Sarasota's premier restaurants. This elegant dining event will be organized, prepared and served by students in USF’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Working closely with a team of culinary professionals from Michael's on East, students will gain valuable hands-on experience while providing USF alumni and friends with an opportunity to support scholarships and programs in USF Sarasota-Manatee's award-winning School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Tickets are available now.

Prepare for hurricane season — The Climate Adaptation Center will release its 2024 Hurricane Season Forecast at a new event scheduled for Thursday, April 4, in the Selby Auditorium. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Participate in an arts integration workshop — Discover the importance of arts integration during a day-long workshop titled, "Painting Literacy: Using Graphic Novels to Develop Literacy Skills." Held at the Marshall Student Center on the Tampa campus on April 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the workshop will feature practical tips for using graphic novels to develop literacy skills.

Attend the International Business Forum — Join USF World, the Muma College of Business and the Office of University Community Partnerships on April 10 in the Marshall Student Center on the Tampa campus for the International Business Forum. Discover the depth of USF's global engagement and its role in fostering international business within the region, showcasing an array of resources and services. Learn from subject matter experts and engage in valuable networking opportunities with international businesses and associations, global organizations, and esteemed members of the diplomatic corps. This event is free. Registration is encouraged.
