Key support for USF included in this year’s state budget

Funding for the University of South Florida’s institutional priorities and support for other important university projects is included in the 2025-26 fiscal year state budget. It will soon be sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis for his review, approval and line-item veto consideration.

USF and The College of New Jersey awarded NSF grant to enhance research administrator training at liberal arts colleges

The National Science Foundation has awarded a five-year, $3 million collaborative grant to the University of South Florida Research Development Institute and The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) to develop a new post-award training model for research administrators at liberal arts colleges across the United States.

A philanthropist at heart

After surviving a cardiac arrest at Pirates spring training in 2023, 76-year-old Ernie Withers founded the Defibrillate Manatee Foundation, raising nearly $200,000 to provide 170 AEDs and training to local organizations, turning his near-death experience into a community lifesaving mission.
