USF plans to launch college focused on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and computing

The goal of creating the new college positions the Tampa Bay region and state of Florida as a national leader in the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and computing. USF is the first university in Florida and among the first in the nation to announce plans to create a college dedicated to AI and cybersecurity.

Climate Adaptation Center will release 2024 forecast at Hurricane Day event at USF Sarasota-Manatee

Ocean water temperatures and the disappearance of the El Niño climate pattern suggest it will be another busy season.

The Atlantic hurricane season officially starts June 1 and runs through Nov. 30.

2024 Giving Challenge to support USF Sarasota-Manatee housing scholarships

A Sarasota charitable foundation will match donations toward housing scholarships for students who will live in the new residence hall at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, during the 2024 Giving Challenge on April 9-10.

USF research funding reaches record high of $692 million

Research funding awarded to USF reached an all-time high of $692 million in fiscal year 2023, representing an increase of nearly 27% from the previous year and elevating USF’s stature as one of the nation’s most research-intensive universities.

USF research reveals language barriers limit effectiveness of cybersecurity resources

The idea for Fawn Ngo’s latest research came from a television interview.

The result is what’s believed to be the first study to explore the links among demographic characteristics, cyber hygiene practices and cyber victimization using a sample of limited English proficiency internet users.

Registration open for Summer Grant Writing Workshop certificate program

Registration is open for the 2024 Summer Grant Writing Workshop, a certificate program hosted and designed by the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee to help early career faculty, doctoral students and staff secure funding for their research.

USF's peer mentoring initiatives keep students on track to graduate, enter workforce

USF has a 92 percent first-time-in-college retention rate. Much of that can be attributed to the dozens of structured programs in which students can find peers who are trained to conduct academic tutoring or offer advice ranging from the management of money and time to which residence hall serves the best food.

USF earns Collegiate Purple Star Campus designation for its support of military families

USF is home to nearly 1,400 student veterans, one of the largest populations for a state university in Florida. There are also more than 5,300 enrolled students who are dependents of a veteran or someone in the military, bringing USF’s overall military-connected population to 6,725 individuals.

Student Housing | Applications to live in the new student center and residence hall at USF Sarasota-Manatee are open. Students committed to living in the new building are eligible for up to $4,000 in scholarships. Apply today.

USF Dining is headed to Sarasota-Manatee! USF Dining will soon have a home on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus with the addition of the new student center and residence hall. The new dining space, located on the first floor of the student center, will offer exciting new dining options and new ways for students to connect to their community. Bulls will be able to choose from a rotating selection of local restaurants. Have an allergy? No problem. USF Dining will offer allergen-friendly menus as well as access to a registered dietician who can help students discover what food options work best for them.

Hurricane Season Forecast | The Climate Adaptation Center will release its 2024 Hurricane Season Forecast at a new event scheduled for Thursday, April 4, in the Selby Auditorium. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Using Graphic Novels to Develop Literacy Skills | Discover the importance of arts integration during a day-long workshop titled, "Painting Literacy: Using Graphic Novels to Develop Literacy Skills." Held at the Marshall Student Center on the Tampa campus on April 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the workshop will feature practical tips for using graphic novels to develop literacy skills.

USF Week / Giving Week | Join thousands of USF alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends for a spirited week-long celebration beginning April 8 to support a college, program, research area or cause important to you. USF Week has something for everyone. Compete against your fellow Bulls in Nintendo Switch Sports, ride the ferris wheel at the carnival or stop by the rotunda for a round of Loteria. During this week of giving, we celebrate Rocky D. Bull's birthday, and there is no greater gift for Rocky than giving to USF!

International Business Forum | Join USF World, the Muma College of Business and the Office of University Community Partnerships on April 10 in the Marshall Student Center on the Tampa campus for the International Business Forum.
