USF ranks among top 50 public universities for fifth year in a row, reaches highest overall ranking ever from U.S. News

For the fifth consecutive year, the University of South Florida places among the top 50 public universities in America, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the best colleges. USF also reached its highest overall position ever at No. 89 among all universities public or private. USF is No. 45 among public universities.

Over the past 10 years, USF has risen an impressive 43 spots among public universities from No. 88 to No. 45, and 72 spots among all universities, from No. 161 to No. 89.

Homecoming celebrations coming TO usf campuses

Homecoming is a weeklong celebration of USF pride and Bull spirit — and one of USF's longest traditions.

Don't miss exclusive events — including a 1960s-themed murder mystery, Green Wednesday and a cooking workshop — coming to the Sarasota-Manatee campus next week.

The festivities culminate with the annual Homecoming Football Game at Raymond James Stadium.

Tickets on sale for 2023 Brunch on the Bay on Sarasota-Manatee campus

Tickets are on sale for Brunch on the Bay, the annual marquee fundraiser for the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus, which returns on Nov. 5. Attendees will enjoy culinary delights from local restaurants and caterers, and get a sneak peek at a major campus expansion project: A new student center and residence hall set to open in the fall of 2024.

Proceeds from the 2023 Brunch on the Bay will support student scholarships and campus initiatives.

Tickets on sale for Crosley Dinner Series and bulls bistro

The School of Hospitality and Tourism management is preparing to host a number of delicious events as part of the Crosley Dinner Series and Bulls Bistro, coming soon to the Sarasota-Manatee community.

Proceeds from ticket sales will support student scholarships and programs in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at USF Sarasota-Manatee, which has experienced unprecedented growth since expanding programming last year to meet industry demand in a post-pandemic world.

USF Sarasota-Manatee’s Marrie Neumer named to Leadership Sarasota Class of 2024

Marrie Neumer, the associate vice president for advancement at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, has been named a member of Leadership Sarasota’s next elite class of 50 Sarasota leaders who will immerse themselves in the challenges facing the community and foster connections that will drive positive change in Sarasota.

USF renews FUSE admissions program

USF is celebrating the renewal of the Fuse program, a transfer agreement launched in 2016 that provides efficient academic pathways for students who begin their studies at one of eight participating Florida state colleges and wish to complete a bachelor’s degree at USF.

The program, which has seen 667 graduates to date, boasts a 97 percent retention rate among its participants.

ASSociate professor of criminology joins United Nations Committee

The mission of the Communications Coordination Committee of the United Nations (CCCUN) is to facilitate the interchange of information among civil society organizations, the UN and the public in order to promote more profound understanding of world problems, their effective solutions and rapid implementation.

As a member at large, Fawn Ngo, an associate professor in the Department of Criminology, will work with board members to organize sessions and panels and attend UN meetings and events.

USF Center for Career and Professional Development enhances student access to internship and career readiness opportunities

The Center for Career and Professional Development — which provides services on all three USF campuses to help Bulls choose careers, find work experiences in their fields, secure jobs after graduation and take care of all the details in between — has enhanced and updated its many services, including career fairs that offer full- and part-time employment as well as internship opportunities.

Tampa General Hospital and USF team up to strengthen pipeline of nurses with training and education

A new nursing simulation lab at the USF Health College of Nursing will offer advanced training for nurses as they prepare to join the workforce.

USF President Rhea Law said the partnership will further strengthen the college, which prepares nurses for successful careers in the health care industry.

Around Campus

Hispanic Heritage Month — The USF community is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Upcoming events include a screening of Calle 54 at the Historic Asolo Theater at The Ringling on Oct. 6.

Homecoming — The university comes alive during a week of exciting events, including a DIY crafting extravaganza, a 1960s-themed murder mystery and a cooking workshop on the Sarasota-Manatee campus. Check BullsConnect for the latest schedule.

Bulls Bistro — Tickets are on sale for Bulls Bistro, which will return to the Café on the Sarasota-Manatee campus on Oct. 10, Oct. 24 and Nov. 7 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets include three tapas and two glasses of wine or two domestic beers.

Crosley Dinner Series — The Crosley Dinner Series will return to the Powel Crosley Estate on Oct. 17 and Nov. 14. Tickets are available now.

Open House — The office of Admissions is hosting an Evening Open House for freshman and transfer applicants and prospective students on Oct. 26. RSVP today.

2023 Brunch on the Bay — The marquee fund-raising event for the Sarasota-Manatee campus will return from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. Tickets are available now.
