USF Sarasota-Manatee to provide 24/7 tutoring services for students

Bull Fountain.

As the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus began online summer classes on Monday, May 18, an innovative new support service was introduced that will empower students to experience even greater success in their courses.

“TutorMe” is available for USF Sarasota-Manatee students 24/7 to assist students whenever they need support with just about any subject and at no additional cost to the student.

Founded by two former University of Southern California students, the TutorMe platform can connect a student with the most qualified online tutor in less than 30 seconds using a matching system powered by artificial intelligence. Students often develop a working relationship with tutors, have access to a writing lab and are able to use features such as document and screen sharing and virtual whiteboards.

“Student safety and success will always be our top priorities,” said USF Regional Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Student Success Brett Kemker, PhD.

The timing couldn’t be better as students completed spring semester finals two weeks ago and began their fully online summer classes this week. USF Sarasota-Manatee opened a new Tutoring Center in 2019, but with all classes and support services now being conducted fully online, having easy access to tutors is more important than ever.

“TutorMe was built by students for students,” said co-founder Alex Convery. “Our tutors are well-trained and students build interpersonal rapport with our tutors.”

“Our future is bright, and our support of our students’ future is steadfast and unwavering,” Kemker said. “Be assured that we are sparing no expense to support our most treasured assets, our students. With summer sessions beginning, and student success Priority One, we wanted to get this powerful 24/7 tutoring service in our students’ hands as soon as possible.”
