USF Sarasota-Manatee campus welcomes return of ‘HospitaBull’ to The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota, March 24

HospitaBull 2020, the elegant dining event organized, prepared and served by students from the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus’ College of Hospitality & Tourism Leadership (CHTL), is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, at 6 p.m., at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota, 1111 Ritz Carlton Drive.

“We hope to deliver a memorable dining experience for our guests alongside some true professionals,” CHTL instructor Joe Askren, PhD, said. “HospitaBull is hands-on, so our students are able to connect traditional classroom theory with real-life food and beverage operations. Our partnership with the Ritz-Carlton is fantastic and certainly benefits both sides.”

The occasion will mark HospitaBull’s tenth anniversary. HospitaBull was created in spring 2011 as an outlet for students to gain hands-on experience while raising funds for scholarships, faculty development and equipment purchases.

Students and faculty work closely with Ritz-Carlton staff to plan and execute the evening. As the event unfolds, students in the kitchen help prepare and plate dishes while others tend to the dining room. A who’s who of hospitality industry professionals, HospitaBull unites hotel and restaurant executives with academia.

“Ten years of HospitaBull is a testament to our students and faculty, but more than anything else, to our loyal and growing supporters,” Patrick J. Moreo, EdD, dean of the CHTL, said. “This event makes a difference in our ability to provide excellent programs. It supports student scholarships, as well as student and faculty development, and it gives us the teaching and learning tools necessary to help our students succeed. Thanks to all who help make this event possible.”

Tickets to HospitaBull start at $175 for individuals. Visit /giving/advancement-events.aspx for tickets and details.
