USF COLLEGE OF NURSING OFFERING FAST-TRACKED NURSING DEGREE AT USF SARASOTA-MANATEE

SARASOTA, Fla. (June 27, 2019) – The USF College of Nursing and USF Sarasota-Manatee are now offering an affordable, fast-tracked option for college graduates looking to switch gears and obtain a high-quality bachelor’s degree in nursing.

USFSM will hold an Accelerated Second Degree (ASD) nursing program information session on July 9 at 6 p.m. in room B206 of the Campus Center, located at 8350 N. Tamiami Trail. Through the ASD nursing program, students are able to obtain a degree within four semesters, including one summer term, and complete all coursework, together with clinical training, at USFSM’s campus and at hospitals in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

“We are very pleased to partner with USF Health and the USF College of Nursing to offer an Accelerated Second Degree nursing program here at USF Sarasota-Manatee,” USFSM Regional Chancellor Karen A. Holbrook, PhD, said. “There is a critical need for well-trained, highly-skilled nurses, and through this new program students can obtain an education that prepares them to enter the workforce quickly with the necessary skills to help meet the need.”

Students who attend the information session will learn details about how to apply to the ASD nursing program for the spring 2020 cycle and receive information about scholarship opportunities for degree-holders with outstanding academic records.

“This is an opportunity for students to obtain a nursing degree from the prestigious USF program at a very affordable cost,” said Paul Kirchman, PhD, dean of the USFSM College of Science & Mathematics. “Graduates of this program will have an unrivaled opportunity to move into jobs right here in Sarasota and Manatee counties in a field that offers extremely competitive starting salaries.”

The ASD nursing program at USFSM is offered through the USF College of Nursing, which is an integral part of USF Health and the University of South Florida. The USF College of Nursing strives to live by its mission to prepare 21st-century nurses to address the health care needs of local and global communities through excellence in research, education, and clinical care.

Founded in 1973, the College of Nursing is one of 14 colleges that comprise the University of South Florida (USF).
