Atala Hall Updates

In May 2026, the Florida Legislature approved a proposal to transfer facilities from the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus to New College of Florida (NCF) as part of the state budget process. July 1, 2026 marked the date on which ownership of the land and building transfered to New College of Florida. USF's academic programs and student services will continue as a thoughtful and structured teach-out plan is designed to support students and team members.

For current and incoming USF students residing in Atala Hall, the residential experience remains a top priority. USF will continue to provide on-campus housing throughout the upcoming academic year. Our department is dedicated to supporting students by providing clear communication and assistance as they navigate their housing options.

Current atala residents

Atala Hall will predominantly house NCF students, and residential programming, in-hall activities, and day-to-day operations will be led by NCF staff and designed primarily to support NCF students. USF will provide on-campus support for USF students but will not have staff in Atala Hall. Your USF Housing Agreement at the Sarasota-Manatee teach-out site will be available through May 7, 2027.

If you are assigned to Atala Hall for move-in beginning June 26, 2026 (Summer B) or August 20, 2026 (Fall), no action is required to maintain your placement. USF will continue to support your residential experience while you live in Atala Hall. 

  • You have the option to change your housing assignment. If you would prefer to live on another USF campus, limited housing options are available in St. Petersburg or Tampa. To explore transferring your housing assignment to another USF campus and reviewing availability, please contact Housing & Residential Education at sar-housing@usf.edu. Our team will work closely with you to discuss your housing preferences and help identify the best fit.
