USF Fall 2020 Commencement

The State University System of Florida announced that all state universities, including the University of South Florida, have been directed to develop alternative plans for summer commencement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, today’s announcement means that our traditional on-campus commencement ceremonies cannot proceed in December as planned. 

We are deeply saddened that our graduates will not have the opportunity to experience the traditional celebration that comes with earning a college degree, an important milestone in their lives and for so many others who helped them along their journey. We also understand that the health and wellbeing of not only our students—but their loved ones, as well as our faculty and staff—must always be at the forefront of everything we do at USF. 

The USF commencement team is working diligently to create alternative plans for this summer that will follow guidance from state and local public health officials. We will include key stakeholders across our university community, including Student Body President Claire Mitchell and student leaders across all three USF campuses, as we develop unique ways to honor our graduates.  More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

We also want to reaffirm our commitment to invite our spring 2020 and summer 2020 graduates to participate in a future traditional in-person commencement, as soon as those ceremonies can safely resume.

Apply to Graduate:

Before you register for the ceremony, be sure you have applied to graduate. You may apply online through OASIS at  http://oasis.usf.edu/. Click on the Student tab, then Apply to Graduate and follow the prompts. The online application is linked to a graduation survey—there are no paper forms. You must complete the survey before you can apply to graduate.  Applications for Graduation must be received by the fourth week of the term in which you plan on completing all degree requirements. Contact the Office of Student Services for instructions if you have any questions about the application process.  

Deadline to apply is Monday, September 21st.  
Students who do not apply by this date may not have their names included in the Commencement program and may have their degree certification delayed (even if all requirements have been met).

Grad Stampede:

Grad Stampede has been cancelled. Please look for communication regarding class rings and invitations, free headshots, to vote for Outstanding Professor and learn more about the USF Alumni Association Membership.  

Cap & Gown:

Orders can be placed at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus Bookstore located at 6301 N. Tamiami Trail (open M-Th 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m.-3p.m.).  The USF Bookstore can be contacted at 941-355-5252 or bookstore@usf.edu.

Graduation Announcements:

You may order your class rings and graduation announcements through Herff Jones or at the Grad Stampede. 
Honor Society/International Student Sashes:

For information on how to order your Academic Honors sash please contact the USF Bookstore at (941) 355-5252. 

Honors Sash Order Form

International sashes are for those graduates whose home country is outside the continental United States.  The sashes bear the same colors as the flag of each nation. Sashes are available from the International Student and Scholars Services Office. International students can place their sash order when they register for the Commencement ceremony.  Sashes maybe be picked up at the Patel Center, CGS101 two days prior to the ceremony.  For more information, visit the International Services page at USF World or call (813) 974-5495.

Commencement Program Listing:

Names published in this Commencement program are a list of candidates who have applied to graduate for this term.  Your name may not appear if the application was not submitted by the application to graduate deadline.  Names are also not printed for those who elected total privacy on their university record.  The list of candidates in this program is not a certified list of graduates.
