When to Refer

Attending college can be an extremely exciting time – but it can also be a stressful one. If you know of another student who is struggling, it may be very helpful to refer them to the CWC.

But how do you know exactly when to refer them to us? Be sure to look for these signs and take the following steps to get them the help they need.

Know Common Challenges

Some of the most common problems students experience during college include:

  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Eating/body image concerns
  • Substance abuse
  • Time management
  • Relationship concerns

If these problems go unresolved, they can result in emotional, academic or social difficulties. At the Counseling Center, we’re here to help students resolve these concerns so they can feel better and improve their academic success.
