Dr. Umut Oguz
Title: Instructor I of Chemistry
Dr. Oguz is an Instructor of Chemistry at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. She earned a PhD degree from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, where her research focused on the syntheses of peptides and peptidomimetics. She worked as a post-doctoral research associate at USF and as a staff scientist at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Throughout her teaching career she taught a variety of undergraduate courses; Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and General Chemistry.
At USF Sarasota Manatee she teaches Organic Chemistry and Advanced Biochemistry courses.
Dr. Oguz actively works with K-12 schools to enhance STEM education. She participated in the American Chemical Society’s Science Coaches program. She is a scientific advisor for STEMFEST USA in Volusia County.
She enjoys swimming, reading, and travelling.
