Dr. Deborah A. Kochman received her BA in English in 2008 and her MA in English in 2011 from the University of South Florida. She holds a PhD in Theatre Studies from the Florida State University. Her dissertation project analyzed images of older women in contemporary Anglo-American theatre using trauma theory and age studies. Her main research interests include age studies, trauma theory, and the representation of older women in contemporary U.S. culture. She has taught first year composition and humanities courses focused on theatre and culture, documentary theatre, the performance of race, gender, and sexuality in U.S. contemporary theatre, and the image of older women in U.S contemporary theatre and performance. Dr. Kochman serves as co-chair of MATC’s Pedagogy Symposium and regularly participates in ASTR working groups focused on trauma studies and is currently a member of the Growing Out of Repetition: Aging as Method and Praxis working group.
