Transition process update from Jean Kabongo and Brian Verkamp
Dear USF colleagues,
USF HR representatives will be on campus to provide in-person support this Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Selby Auditorium. We encourage you to meet with these representatives if you have any questions about transition timelines, the HR-led matching process, the Exit Incentive Program or how teach-out needs may affect planning.
In response to recent questions regarding the Exit Incentive Program, Legal Counsel clarified that provisions restricting future employment are common in exit incentive programs such as this one. However, eligibility for future employment following separation may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to applicable state law and University requirements. Any further questions should be directed to HR for clarification.
We want to stress again how important it is for all impacted employees to take time to explore the available options related to the transition and to speak regularly with their supervisor about the transition process. In addition to Tuesday’s in-person support session, other resources include:
- To help impacted employees navigate both the employee matching and exit incentive processes, we’ve assembled the details on a single Employee Resources webpage (also accessible via the side navigation of the SM transition page). This page also provides additional information applicable to nearly all SM employees navigating the transition.
- Human Resources continues to host weekly online office hours sessions; please take advantage of these sessions. Use the links below to join an HR online office hours meeting:
- For personalized assistance, email HR-SMSupport@usf.edu to request an individual meeting.
- USF’s Employee Assistance Program is available to all employees, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Additionally, please note that FDOT construction affecting access to the Sarasota-Manatee teach-out site begins today. During construction, northbound drivers on U.S. 41 will not be able to make a left turn into the site because the bi-directional center turn lane will be restricted. The entrance will remain open, but northbound drivers will likely need to continue to the traffic signal at Braden Avenue and make a U-turn. Additional details and guidance will be shared as they become available.
Thank you for all that you do for the Sarasota-Manatee teach-out site.
Sincerely,
Jean Kabongo, PhD
