Transition process update from Jean Kabongo and Brian Verkamp

Dear USF colleagues,

Welcome to the second week of the Fall 2026 semester. Thank you for all that you are doing to make our site feel active, welcoming, and supportive during this transitional period. We encourage everyone to continue connecting with our students, answering their questions, and documenting any concerns or questions that come up.

As you continue supporting our students, we remain focused on making sure you have the information and resources you need during this transition.

Yesterday, representatives from CAPTRUST led an informational session in Selby Auditorium. If you were unable to attend the session, you can use click here to schedule a September 10 individual meeting with CAPTRUST and take advantage of this resource to discuss your personal financial goals.

Representatives from USF HR were also on campus yesterday to provide in-person support for the Exit Incentive Program. If you were unable to attend, we plan to have representatives on campus again on September 22 to provide in-person support. More details to come. Be sure to mark your calendar if you would like to take part.

As noted in last week’s email, building access has transitioned to the NCF system and USF-issued access cards no longer open secured doors. If you require after-hours card access and have not been contacted, please reach out to your supervisor. As a reminder, normal operating hours are M-F, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sat., 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sun., closed.

If you have unanswered questions about the transition, we encourage you to utilize the variety of resources available to you:

We would also like to inform you that the picture of our beloved Lucy Brightwell has been removed from the first floor near the elevator and respectfully placed in the C-wing on the second floor, near the printer area. Since many of us have relocated to that area, we believe this is an appropriate place where Lucy will continue to be remembered by colleagues and friends.

Thank you again for all that you do for our students and for the Sarasota-Manatee teach-out site.

Sincerely,

Jean Kabongo, PhD
