Student Outreach & Support
The office of Student Outreach & Support (SOS) at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus is a student-first direct care coordination team that supports students in managing stress that impacts their academics and overall health and wellness.
SOS meets with students to:
- identify strengths and needs
- assess for risks or threats
- understand the student’s perspective for advocacy
SOS collaborates with students to develop an action plan for success. This plan can include:
- coordinating referral linkage with appropriate on/off campus support services
- letters of support
- professor communication
SOS & SOCAT
SOS works in partnership with Student of Concern Assistance Team (SOCAT). SOCAT is
an interdisciplinary team concerned with the wellbeing of all students and is committed
to creating an environment that is safe for learning and development. Together, SOS
and SOCAT collaborate to support students in need of support.
Student Outreach & Support: Provides direct care interventions.
Student of Concern Assistance Team: Rating, risk management, non-direct interventions to students who pose a risk of
danger to self or community.
