University of South Florida is nationally recognized as a student‐centered, research focused, community‐engaged university that values all types of research published in peer-reviewed journals or published as books.
At the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus, we pair our students with world-class faculty who are conducting a wealth of meaningful research to enable undergraduate and graduate students play key roles in a number of research projects. Students are often responsible for data collection, data analysis, literature review, as well as other things. Every April, the Student Research Showcase brings together undergraduate students and professors to present their current research projects in a poster and oral exhibition.
The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus hosts a number of conferences each year to interact with the community and generate an interest in ongoing research at the university.

IRB at USF is fully electronic, managed through the ARC system. All application for initial review and all subsequent submissions related to that study must be submitted via ARC

At USF, we use Community of Science PIVOT database to help us identify funding opportunities. Private Foundations and Philanthropic Giving:
- Foundation Directory Online USF has an institutional subscription to The Foundation Directory; access is provided through the library database. This database is comprised of more than 140,000 grant-makers, offers multiple filters, and stores data for you
- Philanthropy News Digest – Publishes RFPs and notices of awards as a free service for grant-making organizations and nonprofits
Grants.gov - Serves as the single access point for grant programs offered by the 26 federal grant-making agencies. The site provides weekly email service. USF researchers do NOT need to register with Grants.gov to search for funding opportunities. Grants.gov usernames and passwords are only required for grant submissions (note: only the Division of Sponsored Research [DSR] can submit grants via Grants.gov). See Grants.gov Search Tips.
Federal Register – Provides an official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of Federal agencies and organizations, and executive orders and other presidential documents.
GrantForward – The University subscribes to GrantForward, a web-based resource that offers a database of sponsors and funding opportunities.
