SARASOTA, Fla. (Feb. 03, 2020) – The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus will offer a free screening of the documentary “Veterans of Color” on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m., in the campus’ Selby Auditorium, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

The 2012 film chronicles African American veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and their experiences facing racism in the military and later in civilian life.

Also included is a live panel discussion with film producer Bernard Watson, PhD, and special invited guests who served in the 92nd Infantry Division, a segregated division during World War II.

The film and discussion comes as the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus celebrates Black History Month in February. Additionally, the Black Student Union will hold a Family Reunion with music, games and refreshments on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the courtyard, outside the campus café.
