Dr. Phil Wagner
Dr. Phillip Wagner is the Regional Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at USF Sarasota Manatee. Dr. Wagner also holds a faculty line in Communication Studies. Receiving his PhD at the University of Kansas, Dr. Wagner brings an award-winning record of research, administration, teaching, and service.
At the USF Sarasota Manatee campus, Dr. Wagner helps facilitate a variety of academic affairs and student success initiatives, both internally to the USF Sarasota Manateeand in collaboration with USF Tampa and USF St. Petersburg. He coordinates Sarasota Manatee's campus General Education program and Foundations of Success curriculum and serves actively on a variety of internal initiatives designed to help the USF Sarasota Manatee campus students succeed. Dr. Wagner served as the Chair of the Chancellor's Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from 2016-2019 and remains actively committed to diversity and inclusion work at the USF Sarasota Manatee campus. His research has been featured in top journals, such as Communication Quarterly, The International Journal of Men’s Health, The Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Women & Language, as well as through other platforms, such as TEDx (both as a speaker and a speaking coach), UN Women, and the USF Bay to Bay Learning Symposium. As an administrator, Dr. Wagner is passionate about student success, academic excellence, and the success of the University of South Florida.
