Dr. Murat Haner is an Instructor of Criminology at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus. His research focuses on terrorism and political violence, examining the consequences of violence and the radicalization into, through, and out of terrorist organizations. Dr. Haner’s work also examines public beliefs about, fear of, and reactions to terrorism and public views toward and public policy preferences for different types of criminal victimization. He has conducted extensive fieldwork throughout the Middle East over the past six years as a Fulbright Fellow of the US Department of State and has carried out 3 national surveys. He currently teaches “Survey of the Criminal Justice System”, “Introduction to Psychology of Intelligence”, “Terrorism and Homeland Security”, “Victimology”, and “Terrorism, Insurgency and Political Violence”.
 
He received his PhD in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2016, his MA in Political Science from the same university in 2014, his MS in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2010, and his BA in Security Studies from School of Security Sciences-Ankara in 2006.
