Dr. Edie Banner is an Instructor II of Organic Chemistry in the Biology program and acts as Lab Coordinator. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Chemistry at the University of New Orleans and completed her doctorate in Organic Chemistry at UNO with a focus on the synthesis of toxins found in poison dart frogs.
Her teaching experience spans 10 years with a wide range of chemistry courses taught at the University of Richmond, Murray State University and Florida Southern College before finding the right combination of chemistry and biology in USF Sarasota Manatee’s developing Bachelor of Science in Biology program. Edie enjoys reading quirky novels, drinking Costa Rican coffee, eating chocolate from the dark side and is happiest when outdoors hiking, biking or kayaking.
